Removing Expectations

Hi babes!!! I hope this post finds you well! Today I want to talk a little bit about something that has really made an impact on my life recently. Do you have those things on your to-do list, maybe that were once enjoyable but really just feel nagging?? They stay on your list of things that need to get done because you just always put them off. Well, I have a simple (possibly life-changing!) solution for you: Take it off your to-do list and remove the expectation of having to get it done.

I have learned that more often that not, if I just remove that item from my to do list I get it done so much faster than keeping it on there. WHY?? By simply removing the expectation my brain goes from HAVING to get it done to WANTING to get it done. When you free yourself up you will feel more motivated. This goes for so many things!! Once we feel like we HAVE to do something it no longer is fun and exciting. But if you remove that expectation of getting it done all of the pressure goes away and you will do it because you want to and not because you feel like you have to. A couple ways I have seen this play out in my life is with exercise, eating healthy, taking Griffey for a walk, and even writing these blog posts. There are all things I want to do and they are all things I enjoy. But when I feel like I HAVE TO do them they just seem like a nagging task. Sometimes I’ll get them done (usually not in a very positive mood when I do) and sometimes I won’t. But not having the expectation of having to do them makes these things enjoyable for me again and I am able to do them so much more often and easier than if I make myself think I have to get them done.
