Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!!

Good morning y'all! I hope you all are having a wonderful week!  Today I want to talk a little bit about one of my biggest weaknesses... drinking water!  I really struggle with not only drinking water, but drinking fluids throughout the day and I have definitely seen the consequences of it.

A couple weeks ago I was working out at the gym and just finished the second set of my leg circuit, as soon as I stood up from putting my weight down I completely blacked out and got super nauseous.  Usually when I start to black out it goes away in a couple seconds, but this time it was the opposite...it got worse.  I had to sit down on my bench, lean over on my legs, and close my eyes.  After sitting there for a couple minutes my body started sweating so bad that my hands were slipping off my legs and I couldn't move or open my eyes without feeling like I was going to throw up.  I sat there for about ten minutes without feeling any better and was about to ask one of the workers to help me stand up and get back to my apartment.  I gave it one more shot and I sat up and did deep breathing for a couple minutes and tried to open my eyes.  I finally felt like I would be okay enough to put my weights away and walk up to my apartment.  I did just that while still fighting the urge to throw up.  As soon as I got upstairs I had to lay down on the couch while my husband made me something to eat and drink.  After that, it took me 4-5 hours of laying down to feel like I could actually stand up and feel okay walking around.  I know that was a long story, but I want to stress how important it is to drink water!  Although I am not perfect at it, I try to get better every day.

TIP: If you only like drinking ice cold water (like me), pick up an insulated water bottle that you can carry with you throughout the day to have icy cold water all day long! (I've linked a couple below.)

How much water should you be drinking?? The goal is to drink half of your body weight (in ounces) every day.  Say you weigh 130 lbs, your goal would be to drink 65 oz daily.

What are the benefits of drinking water?? Drinking water helps to improve headaches, aid in weight loss, flush out toxins, improves your mood, helps with clear skin, and can help you eat better.

Can't drink that much water?? Still drink!!  I know 60+ ounces of water may seem like a lot especially if your not used to drinking much (like me).  So even if you can't drink that much water try to hydrate with things like milk, Gatorade, and fruit flavored water.  Although things like soda don't have the best nutritional benefits, at least you are hydrating!

I can't stress to you enough the importance of hydrating!  I hope you learn from my story and don't have to experience that yourself!  Set a goal each day of how much water you are going to drink and get it done!  I promise you will reap the rewards of staying hydrated.

I hope you all have a fantastic rest of your week!

XO, Kenz
